Topic 6
Information for students eligible to select BA Primary Teaching and Social work modules.
Eligible students are from our Erasmus partner institutions with whom we have a specific Education subject agreement. Other visiting students are welcome to make enquiries.
Suitable modules for Teaching Students and Social Work Students are listed below. Please note you can also choose modules from the general module listings in the section above but we advise against choosing subjects outside of the Faculty of Education and Health and Social Care.
If you are going to request a teaching (or social work) placement, please register your request early at application stage (by returning the teaching placement request form below) to enable us to establish whether we are able to meet your requirements.
If you are wanting a teaching placement, please complete the attached placement request form and enclose with your application. Please ensure that you state volunteering module PR3999 (7.5 ECTS) on your learning agreement. The University of Winchester specialises in Primary education so placements would normally be in a primary school. We can offer a maximum of 10 days in school.
If you wish to undertake a school placement we strongly advise against studying modules outside of the Faculty of Education and Health and Social Care for timing and organisational reasons. Due
to the increased demand for our own student placements we cannot guarantee more than 10 days experience in a school. All students who have been formally accepted by us by way of a letter, and who are completing a placement must complete a Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check. The current cost for this is £44. You will have to pay this.
Please read the DBS instructions below for how to complete this process.
